It doesn’t matter what time of year or season it is, someone is always waiting around the bend wondering what the newest car model will look like. Auto manufacturers and consumers alike feel like a kid on their birthday as they wait to see what’s new in the automotive industry. Whether we dream of a sports car or are curious about what the latest family sedan will look like, some of us just have to know and we want to know right now. Here’s a list of some of what we can expect in our future.
2017 Ford GT
The expression that good things come to those who wait in combination with the old saying that you get what you pay for can certainly apply to the 2017 Ford GT. The 2017 Ford GT may be one of the most expensive cars you’ve seen to date with an estimated MSRP of over $400,000. With a lighter weight chassis in combination with a powerful 600 horsepower, direct injected 3.5 liter V-6 engine, it remains something to be seen. From its sleek and stylish front end to its rear wing, the 2017 Ford GT looks like it’s ready for take-off at any given moment. With an aerodynamic rear spoiler including an air-brake function, the ability to lift the front end at the touch of a button, and flying buttresses, these features give the supercar some of its superpower. Lightweight carbon fiber, top performance and everything aerodynamic lets the 2017 Ford GT earn its superpower status.
2017 Mercedes Benz E Class
True to Mercedes style, the next generation of opulent mid-size sedan will be introduced for the 2017 model year. The only thing lightweight about it will be its use of aluminum materials. With the expectation to arrive in five different body styles from sedan to convertible and a pretty awesome remote parking system, the 2017 Mercedes Benz E Class looks to match luxury and style with newer technologies. With the re-emergence of the inline six and the possibility of a 9-speed automatic, this may be a popular model for Mercedes in 2017. If you are a fan of the Mercedes line, don’t be surprised if you see a sneak peek at the Detroit auto show in January.
Mercedes Benz Pickup Truck
While on the subject of Mercedes Benz, why not envision something that Mercedes does not yet have – a midsize pickup. Imagine the possibilities for a future midsize pickup from Mercedes, which plans to make its grand entrance well into the future in the year 2020. However, more information and news may be announced as early as the end of 2015. Midsize pickup trucks are gaining in popularity as the market for same continues to grow and expand.
Cadillac XT5
What a difference a year makes. The Cadillac XT5 is expected for fall 2016 with a couple of options from short to long wheel base or five to seven passenger seating. As far as powertrain is concerned, you can select 2.0-liter inline four, 3.6 liter V-6, 3.0-liter turbo V-6 with the possibility of nine-speed automatic transmission.
2018 Land Rover
It sounds as though Land Rover has plans to give birth to a new family of Defenders in the next couple of years. Plans seem to lean toward the creation of off-roaders that offer both luxury and ruggedness to its line. These new models may show up with a brand new look in order to recreate itself and its brand. The potential to offer a model anywhere from basic to luxury is a possibility, along with buzz about using light-weight aluminum materials like other automakers. The combination of being a rugged off-roader while at the same time showing up as luxurious will be quite an eclectic mix indeed. It’s something worth watching and waiting for when it may make its debut in 2017.
2017 BMW M5
With a mix of materials from steel to aluminum and even carbon fiber, the BMW M5 looks to show up as a lighter version medium-size sports sedan. Following suit with other car makers in redesigning newer models to be lightweight, M5 kicks it up a notch in horsepower too. Keeping in line with its current 4.4 liter V-8, output may go well over the 600 horsepower mark. While up until now M5’s were rear-wheel drive, don’t be surprised if you see all-wheel drive added as an option for the 2017 BMW M5.
Honda Civic Type R
The Honda Civic Type R concept looks to be coming to the United States in the future. While the Honda Civic Type R hatchback may have been launched overseas, the U.S. version may be based on the 10th generation Honda Civics possibly offering various body style options.
The arrival of the Type R could build excitement around Honda’s brand. Although the new 10th generation Civic arrives this fall, the Type R probably won’t emerge until 2017 for the 2018 model.
While some of these makes and models may still be out of reach, the fun is in the following of them.
